In Poland arrested two "Russian spies"




In Poland, arrested two suspects in espionage in favor of Russia. Both the court ruled to detain for a period of three months. Names were not disclosed in the interests of the investigation. It is known that one of the suspects – a lieutenant colonel of the armed forces of Poland, the other – a lawyer from Warsaw, reports Reuters.



“Steps are being taken against the two agents of the Russian state,” – said the representative of the authorities Marek Biernacki reporters. “It was definitely a successful blow to the GRU,” – he added, referring to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia.



Took the decision to arrest Military District Court in Warsaw. It is noted that the arrested lawyer has dual Russian-Polish citizenship, but it is learned from unofficial sources. The lawyer was arrested together with a Polish officer a few days ago. According to available information, their cases are linked only to the part of the work for the same country. As the channel TVN24 , it can call Stanislav (in the article’s name is not fully contained – Stanisław Sz.), he arrived in Poland in 1991 with her ​​parents from Russia.


According to Tass, the arrested officer is a colonel. “The colonel is suspected of committing a crime under Article 130, paragraph 2, that is, action in favor of a foreign intelligence service against Poland. For this crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 3 to 15 years” – quoted by the press secretary of the military court Tomasz Krajewski.



“The basis for the decision of the court there were fears the possibility of fraud, as well as the escape of the suspect,” – said by a representative of the court.



Note that the earlier Polish troops are wary about the detained officer and his alleged espionage suspicions which is not officially confirmed. However, after the meeting of the Committee of the Polish Sejm for special services, which was attended by the heads of the Internal Security Agency and the Military Counterintelligence Service, deputy Marek Biernacki, part of the commission, confirmed that the Polish services produced action “against two agents of the Russian state.”


But Polish media almost immediately said that it was a Russian spy. “This is a high-ranking officer, who was a great experience and knowledge. This is a very serious matter” – the press, pointing out that he spied for Russia.
