In Hong Kong, the violent clashes of protesters with the police: there are injured and dozens arrested




At least 26 people were arrested on Saturday in Hong Kong, where there were new clashes between police and demonstrators. During clashes with casualties on both sides, according to TASS referring to a local radio station.


The clashes occurred in Mongkok on the Kowloon peninsula, where two major highways and recently visited a camp students demanding democratic elections. On Friday, police cleared the barricades in the area, freeing up the roadway to traffic. However, hundreds of protesters tried to regain control of the area, which remained covered the protests for three weeks. At dawn, the activists managed to occupy the site of protests at the busy intersection, where they began to erect new barricades, reports RIA “Novosti”with reference to AFP.


It is reported that the police floated rubber batons and cans of pepper gas to disperse the demonstrators.


According to a police statement of Hong Kong, about 9,000 people took part in the clashes with the police, resulting in 26 people were detained. It also reported that 15 policemen were injured.


This week police began a gradual analysis of the barricades erected by campaigners Occupy Central. As a result, a number of roads and intersections in the city center have been unlocked and opened to traffic.


Demonstration of supporters of democratization elections continued here three weeks.
