Google’s new service offers everyone who wants to keep its genome decoded in the cloud. This information will help scientists develop new drugs.
On the Internet you can now store not only photos and text documents. For the past year and a half Google is developing a service that will store a digital copy of the human genome. Cloud services like Google Drive and Dropbox for this purpose are not suitable – such information occupies a lot of space: according to the publication of Tecnology Review genome of one man is equivalent to 100 GB.

The project plan is that all the information will be stored online, in large clouds, which will have access geneticist. They will be able on the basis of the available data to conduct virtual experiments, which, hopefully, will help them to develop new and effective treatments for genetic diseases.
