BMW M division will be headed by a native of Audi Quattro

Sports division of the Bavarian concern that builds “charged” modification model BMW, will command Francis van Mil, who previously headed a division of Audi. The current head of BMW M will leave his post by the end of the year.

According to rumors, the 59-year-old Friedrich Nitschke, who was in charge of the creation of BMW sports cars since 2011, will retire in December. In turn, Francis Van Mil will be admitted to the top management of the Bavarian concern as early as 1 October, and will be headed by its sports division from January 1, 2015.

The Audi van Mil worked from 1996 until January 2014 – until he was fired from his post as division Audi Quattro. Earlier it was reported that, presumably, the reason for the dismissal was the discontent of the heads of the results of his work at his post, mainly poor implementation of a new generation Audi R8 and its electric version of the R8 e-tron. It is worth noting that the rumors about a possible move van Mila BMW went back in the spring of this year – then it was assumed that a top manager can either lead the Chinese division of Audi, or go to competitors. At this time, the information that the van Mil join the team BMW, is official.

On account of Francis van Mila appears, for example, the creation of a sports crossover Audi RS Q3. Under the leadership of Friedrich Nitschke were developed, in particular, the new generation BMW M3 sedan and coupe M4.
