George Lucas compared the modern cinema with the circus

George Lucas spoke at a public discussion in the framework of the festival “Sundance”, which sharply responded about modern cinema, as well as compared with the current Hollywood circus.

Modern cinema increasingly resembles a circus without any sense. Remember the “Star Wars” – where the story was more important than a beautiful picture,

- Said the director.

Created by George Lucas franchise at the time was a real technological breakthrough, however, according to him, the special effects in movies only served to a more complete disclosure of the plot.

Any art – this technology. This is what distinguishes us from animals,

- Commented George Lucas.

He also admitted that he was confused by the popularity of such online platforms like YouTube.

I could not imagine that people will spend a lot of time watching a video playing with lions,

- George Lucas says.

By the way, now the director is working as a consultant on a new cult trilogy of “Star Wars”, which will start in theaters this December. It starts from the movie “Star Wars: Episode 7 – Awakening forces” (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens), directed by JJ Abrams.

Also today it was announced that the eighth and the ninth episode of the franchise to hit the screens in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

I want to assure fans of “Star Wars” which were waiting for the new movie a decade that their patience will be rewarded. Moreover, the seventh episode – just the beginning. In the next year we will be releasing a separate film about his heroes, and in 2017 and 2019 followed by the second and third, the final episode of the trilogy,

- Said the head of Walt Disney Pictures Bob Iger.
