Literally a few short years transformed from Within Temptation budding Goth metalworkers multiplatinum Symphony maestro metal almost annually conquering music – and not only – rewards. And this despite the fact that for almost 20 years, talented Dutch release only the sixth album! Agree, not even the biggest productivity against the overall average performance metal bands themselves.
How many feathers criticism broke all music publications, competing in witty epithets in an attempt to define the style of the most successful commercial metal band in recent years. But the truth is simple like a dandelion. Only “The Heart of Everything” of 2007, still well syak reminiscent of metal roots Within Temptation. Recently the seven years have finally turned the Dutch in the pop-symphonic metal formation with a clear focus on a set of powerful hits, suitable for almost any radio station.
Actually, on the basis of the above, and you need to understand the new album, “Hydra”, the release of which was announced at the beginning of February. I do not know what the meaning of the title of the album the musicians themselves, but if it was a hint of musical diversity, it is a hint and left, and very opaque.
“Hydra” begins with the work “Let Us Burn”. Total composition, in all probability, was designed to fill a “symphonic quota” in the album. The most prominent is a powerful choral backing vocals and dense reefs, buried in the “fat keyboard.” Solid and that’s it!
In the embodiment represented hateful bottomhole track “Dangerous” with outrageous Howard Jones. Angelic voice Sharon den Adel quite vocal harmony with Howard, even if a bit corny.
But participation in the Xzibit “And We Run” seems more original and imparting, oddly enough for a frame, certain power and charm as a hard track and the whole album.
And of course, just stands out “Paradise”, which was attended by itself Tarja! Well, yes it does not concern us. “Paradise” – this is the nail album “Hydra”! Moreover, gold twice. Tariey and Sharon! Their gorgeous delicate duel of two operatic voices is pumped from the first chord. Applause!
Our verdict can be any grovel about the pros and cons of the new material, but the fact remains a fact. Conventional disk disperse thousands of copies, because it sold out all the same army of loyal fans of the team, even those who still have until the end and did not accept the new pop format command.
