NEW TECHNOLOGY TO CHANGE THE FUTURE WIRELESS

Radio communication systems, including mobile phones and Wi-Fi-gadgets have become an integral part of modern life. However, the devices of today are using more than twice as wide range than you need. The new technology, developed by a team of researchers from Bristol, aims to radically change the design of radio systems. It can increase the network capacity and data rate, reduce power consumption, allow more cheap device and run global roaming.

The research group dealing with communication systems and networks at the University of Bristol, has developed a technique that can measure and compensate for interference from data by the device, allowing the radio to transmit and receive data on the same channel at the same time. In this device will use the same channel for bidirectional communications, and therefore, the width of the frequency range involved halved.

Laughlin Leo (Leo Laughlin), post-graduate training center for doctors at the University of EPSRC (Council for Research in the field of engineering and natural sciences), and Master Zhang Chankina (Chunqing Zhang), led by Professor Mark Beach (Mark Beach) and Dr. Kevin Morris (Kevin Morris), as well as the technical director Dr. John Heine (John Haine) designed and built the latest full duplex transceiver architecture, which is based on the balance of electrical insulation and active radio frequency compensation. Their prototype can suppress interference by a factor of over a hundred million, and is built using low-cost and relatively small components, so it is ideal for use in mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

The development opens up a whole range of possibilities. Thus, a Wi-Fi-new technology systems provide a doubling of the power access points, which will be connected to more users and increase the speed of data transmission. For cellular systems are similar to the advantages of the introduction of technology; In addition, carriers can provide the same bandwidth using a smaller number of base stations, which will positively affect the cost of launching and maintenance.

NEW TECHNOLOGY TO CHANGE THE FUTURE WIRELESS

Laughlin said:

“Up to this point there was a fundamental insoluble problem in the field of radio communications. Since the width of the radio spectrum – a limited resource, network operators are forced to pay billions of pounds for access to a particular frequency. Solving this problem will make us one step closer to faster, cheaper and environmentally friendly devices, which is the future of communications. “

It is expected that the new technology will be one of the components of the evolution of mobile data transmission format 5G. Mobile devices that are used today do not always support all frequency channels in different countries. In addition, there is no 4G-phones that would support an unlimited global roaming. Replace them with filters, antenna switch circuit, developed by a team of researchers will establish a fan of compact and inexpensive device – a single model that can be used anywhere in the world.
