MWC 2015: ZTE Grand S3 smartphone can scan the eyeball

Launched during the MWC in Barcelona in 2015, ZTE has not yet demonstrated a smartphone flagship level and it is unknown whether similar gadget shows. But the Chinese manufacturer participated in the Spanish show and introduced there a gadget with ocular biometric identification.


We are talking about the smartphone ZTE Grand S3, uses technology EyeVerify EyePrint ID. It assumes no iris scans, and use the phone’s camera to take photos of the eyeball and the definition of the pattern of blood vessels, which, according to the developers of the new solution is unique to each person and does not change with age or due to a change of the emotional state of the body.


The user is looking at the camera, and the system determines the identity of the owner of the smartphone and unlocks the device – without the use of passwords. During the demonstration, development, writes portal Mashable, the authentication process took about a minute.

Grand S3 model has become one of the first smartphones with EyePrint ID, noted in ZTE. The company plans to continue to implement this feature in their products, and will integrate with it payment services and other applications.


With regard to filling the hardware ZTE Grand S3, it was very advanced. In the gadget installed 5.5-inch screen Full HD, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 801 with a frequency of 2.5 GHz, 3 GB RAM, 16 GB of non-volatile memory, micro-SD slot and two cameras – 16 and 8 megapixels. Scanning eye exercises 8-megapixel front photo module.

Battery Capacity is 3100 mAh. The software component is built around OS Android 4.4.


ZTE Grand S3 is already available in China for about $ 480.
