Review of the film "sxtape"

Under the heading “Scary Movie” sxtape we place a review of the horror movies that, for one reason or another have not been put in a film distribution

Young artist Jill ( Caitlin Foley ) and her boyfriend Adam ( Ian Duncan ), passing by the old abandoned hospital stay to examine her – is thought to organize an exhibition of her girls. Innocent sex game ends with one of the chambers that Jill is faced with some supernatural powers, and they will do everything possible so that this story ended as bad as possible.

Two years ago, honored director Barry Levinson , winner of the “Oscar” for ” Rain Man ” and the creator of such distinguished films as” Sleepers “,” Wag the Dog “and” Bugsy , “suddenly made a feint ears and released thriller” Bay “about the blood-sucking parasites, very sad way poisoned the Independence Day holiday residents of a small coastal town. This film went virtually unnoticed in the world and no dividends to its creator has not brought (puzzled critics shrugged and turned away), but now in his footsteps went Bernard Rose . Director he is not so famous, but also not the last – in his filmography is ” Immortal Beloved “of Beethoven performed by Gary Oldman and adaptation of ” Anna Karenina “with Sophie Marceau in the title role. On the other hand, in addition to these academic paintings Rose took another cult ” Candyman “and the thriller with the speaker called” snuff film  sxtape”, so that horror themes close to him – and all the more surprising to receive from him is weak, formless mush as ” sxtape. “

Review of the film "sxtape"

As the film “sxtape” was made?

Filmed in the rapidly emerging from the fashion style of “found films” – Adam we see only in the final, to this point, he and his camera (judging by the reflections, are not “phone” and not even an amateur hand, and with a healthy telebanduroy attached thereto mini illuminator) will be our eyes and ears. And here we are dealing with a wacky view of found footage-horror that are not worried about credibility – that no matter what happens, the camera does not put the main character and did not turn off, even during sex.

In the same “Kendimene” Rose frightening atmosphere and suspense – and, admittedly, it is perfectly managed. Directed honestly tries to repeat this number in “sxtape,” but it turns out bad – watching monotonous promenades heroes empty corridors tedious and boring. The most common course of directing – “throw” a noise in the distance, then fall silent heroes and intense stare, listen to how the darkness. A couple of times in the darkness, and the truth is something going on, but in most cases this is just a false alarm – as the story of the boy who cried “Wolf!” Has not been canceled, at some time in these scenes begin to not strain and fall asleep.

Review of the film "sxtape"

In the second half of the film appears in the story a couple of characters – the main characters of friends who join the “fun” in an abandoned hospital, but even then not stop solo Caitlin Foley, actress unusually sunny and expressive. In principle, if the film and travels at the seams, it is only because of her – first she deftly draws an image of a living, charming “Hopper” and then gradually withdraws his heroine in the depths of inexplicable madness. Here is the “inexplicable”, by the way, for the benefit of the film is not – while for the most Folly no complaints, more frequent tantrums are not afraid of her character, and annoying.

Verdict “sxtape”

The ending, as usual in the genre of “found film” does not answer any of the draw while watching the issues, but contains a short ten seconds “bonus scene” with a completely shock nibbles penis during oral sex, for which, as it seems, the film and filmed. Sorry for the spoiler, but such things should know in advance – because this episode was in production obviously cost more than the rest of the film, and he did not tied to the fact that we have shown before. Well, what a nice way to wake up dozing cinema and leave behind a strong impression. But we are not fooled – that bullying, which was until then, we will not forget, do not forgive.
