US is creating a new agency to combat cyber threats

According to sources in the White House, US President Barack Obama creates a new cyber security agency, reports the Software-boom. Agency priorities will be the fight against cyber threats in relation to the US government and private companies.

The new agency – Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC) – will be part of the Office of Director of National Intelligence. Its activities will focus on the analysis of possible cyber threats and coordinating agencies and departments involved in network security.

The Obama Administration has placed increased emphasis on cyber security after successful hacker attacks on companies like Sony Pictures, Home Depot, Anthem. In addition, in October the administration itself has become the object of such attacks. The budget for 2016 the president proposed to allocate $ 14 billion to fight cybercrime.

Many experts have questions, whether the United States needs another intelligence structure. Currently their units to analyze and combat cyber threats have the FBI, CIA, NSA, and Department of Homeland Security.

“Cyber threats – one of the most serious problems of our time – said in an interview with Washington Post Lisa Monaco (Lisa Monaco), Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs and the fight against terrorism. – So it would be better if we hone our reflexes to fight them, as we did in the fight against terrorism. “

The idea of creating a centralized agency for protection from hackers is not new, but the participation of cyber attacks, including from China and North Korea, the White House was forced to return to it.
